WHAT TO EXPECT

The architecture and atmosphere are the attraction here: rustic buildings, wooded paths and family-friendly spaces invite a relaxed visit. Shops and the restaurant add places to stop along the way. The playground is covered in its own activity guide. The train and seasonal events are separate ticketed experiences.

HOURS AND SEASON

Deadwood is open year-round. Regular hours are Thursday 5–9 p.m., Friday 5–9:30 p.m., Saturday noon–9:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m. It is closed Monday through Wednesday. Event schedules can vary from these regular hours.

ADMISSION AND RIDES

There is no general admission charge to enter Deadwood. The regular train season runs May through August on Saturdays. Train fares are $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and free for children under two when riding with an adult. The Haunted Train operates in October, and the Polar Express runs in late November and December; those special events have separate tickets. The roller coaster and mini golf are under renovation, so do not plan on them as part of a regular visit.
