OUTDOOR ATTRACTION AT CAROWINDS

Carowinds is a destination-scale outdoor theme park that straddles the North Carolina–South Carolina state line at 14523 Carowinds Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28273. Its distinctive skyline, themed areas, landscaped paths and seasonal atmosphere make the park an attraction in its own right. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE

Expect a large, mostly open-air park with distinct areas for thrill seekers, families and younger children. Camp Snoopy is the family-focused area; the larger park connects rides, dining, shops and entertainment by walkable pathways. Plan on several hours of walking and a full day if you want to explore more than one area. The park is a convenient Charlotte-area outing but the entrance, parking and attractions are spread across a substantial footprint.

WHEN TO VISIT

Carowinds operates seasonally from spring through the winter holiday period, with different hours on different dates. Fall visits include select daytime and evening openings for SCarowinds; WinterFest extends the season into early January. In September and October, Friday evening openings are generally 6:00 p.m. to midnight, Saturday openings generally begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue to midnight, and Sunday hours vary. November and December shift to select weekends and holiday dates, commonly noon to 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. for WinterFest. January 1–3 continue the holiday schedule. For a less crowded walk through the park, favor weekdays in late spring or early summer outside holidays and Friday evenings over peak Saturday fall dates.

ADMISSION, PARKING AND PASSES

Exploring the park is included with Carowinds admission; there is no separate outdoor-attraction ticket. Daily admission generally ranges from about $45 to $80 per person, with advance online prices usually lower than gate prices. Children age two and younger enter free. General parking averages about $30, with preferred parking about $45; prices vary by date. Gold season passes generally range from about $90 to $115 and include recurring admission and general parking for their stated season. GETTING AROUND AND ACCESSIBILITY

Wear comfortable walking shoes and plan for sun, heat or rain. The Six Flags mobile app provides a park map and on-site information. Strollers and wheelchairs are rented near Guest Services at the North Gate, subject to availability. The park provides an Accessibility Guide, service-animal and sensory information, and assistance through Guest Services. Lockers are available in several park areas for belongings you do not want to carry all day.

FOOD, FACILITIES AND WEATHER

Dining and snack locations operate throughout the park, although individual locations may not open every day. Outside food and drinks are generally restricted, with assistance available for special dietary needs. Restrooms and guest services are spread through the park. Severe weather can interrupt rides and outdoor programs; the walking areas remain exposed to the elements. Shirts and shoes are required in the dry park, and swimwear must be covered outside Carolina Harbor.

CHAPERONE POLICY

Guests age 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone age 21 or older by 2:00 p.m.; the park may begin enforcement earlier. One chaperone may accompany no more than five guests age 15 or younger, must present valid government-issued photo identification, enter with the group, remain in the park and be reachable by phone. PLAN YOUR VISIT

Choose the areas you most want to see before arriving. If you are visiting with children, start with Camp Snoopy and allow time for breaks and food. Consider an evening visit for illuminated seasonal events, or a daytime visit for broader visibility of the park and its setting. SCarowinds uses stricter re-entry rules: guests who leave after 7:00 p.m. may not re-enter during that event. Use the official park map to limit backtracking across the large grounds.
