PEDAL BOATS AT PULLEN PARK

Closed for renovation: Pedal boat rentals on Lake Howell are suspended while Raleigh completes shoreline and lake improvements. The city plans to resume pedal boating in spring 2027. Do not plan a boat ride before rentals reopen.

THE BOAT RIDE

Riders pedal their own boats around Lake Howell. Each boat accommodated up to four people, and rentals were for 30 minutes.

FORMER SEASON, HOURS AND PRICE

Before the renovation, pedal boating was seasonal, generally beginning in late March and continuing through the warmer months. In summer, rentals were offered seven days a week. Pullen Park’s published amusement hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Friday–Sunday, but the boat schedule varied with season and weather. The former rental price was $7 per boat for 30 minutes, for up to four riders. These are former operating details, not a promise of the schedule or price when boating resumes.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

Lake Howell is inside Pullen Park at 520 Ashe Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27606. The park itself is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitor parking and restrooms remain available, although routes around the lake are affected by the construction.
