GO KARTS

Go-kart racing at Frankie’s of Charlotte puts a fast-paced outdoor activity into a visit to Huntersville, NC. The Charlotte-area park has three track experiences, with different driving styles and rider requirements.

Planning information checked October 11, 2026. Confirm current prices, hours and attraction availability before traveling.

Frankie’s Charlotte offers three different outdoor kart experiences in Huntersville. Choose the track according to who is eligible to drive and the kind of driving experience your group wants. The most useful first question is whether everyone will drive alone or whether a child needs a double kart.

Compare the three tracks

Track What makes it different Published requirement
Road Course Quarter-mile circuit; single and double karts. Single-kart driver: at least 56 inches. Double-kart driver: age 16+ with ID; passenger: at least 36 inches.
Drifter Seven 180-degree turns with banked corners; designed around drifting. Age 16+.
Slick Track The shortest track, with sharp corners and a slippery surface. Age 16+.

These details come from Frankie’s Charlotte kart guide. The Road Course is the starting point to investigate for families needing passenger seats. Drifter and Slick Track are options for eligible older teens and adults who want to compare different handling challenges. A double kart does not remove the passenger’s minimum-height requirement.

Go-kart pricing

The Road Course, Drifter and Slick Track each cost $11 per ride, according to Frankie’s Charlotte pricing. Rides are purchased separately.

Choosing the right experience

  • First-time driver: Ask staff which operating track they recommend for your age and experience. Read the instructions before joining the queue, and watch a session to understand the layout.
  • Adult with a younger passenger: Check the child’s height first, then bring the eligible driver’s ID. Confirm double-kart availability and the complete charge.
  • Older teens and adults: Compare Road Course racing with the handling-focused Drifter or Slick Track rather than buying repeats before trying the options.
  • Mixed-age group: Make two lists: activities everyone qualifies for, and optional races for older participants. Arrange guardian supervision before anyone gets in line.

Hair restriction, clothing and belongings

Frankie’s prohibits kart riders whose hair extends past the waist because of axle-entanglement risk. This is a stated restriction, not simply advice to tie hair back. Ask the park about your situation if unsure. Follow the official kart safety information and staff instructions.

For planning, choose secure footwear and avoid loose items that could interfere with riding. Secure bags, phones and accessories before boarding, following staff instructions. Listen to the loading, restraint and driving briefing even if you have raced elsewhere. Do not use the kart as an opportunity for intentional collisions.

When to go and how much time to allow

Use the Frankie’s Charlotte location guide for the full hours, address, food options and map. Track operation can differ from building hours. If you are arriving primarily to race, call 704-875-7888 and ask when your chosen track opens and whether it is operating.

Allow for check-in, eligibility checks, the queue and loading in addition to the race itself. For more than one track, keep the schedule flexible instead of counting only driving time. A second ride can be a better choice than rushing between three queues. Check the forecast before traveling and ask staff about outdoor operation before purchasing rides.

Children and evening visits

Family planning: Under-18s must stay with a parent or legal guardian age 21+. Frankie’s FAQ lists 18+ entry after 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Check the current supervision and evening-entry rules before a family evening visit.

A 16- or 17-year-old meeting a driving requirement still needs the required guardian and must follow park-entry rules. Track eligibility and permission to enter the park are separate checks.

Food, breaks and other activities

The café has a shaded patio overlooking the kart area; see the food and seating information. Plan a break between repeated races if anyone wants a pause. For a change of pace, combine racing with mini golf, or compare the eligibility chart in our amusement-rides guide.

Before you leave home

Check driver ages, passenger heights, ID requirements and the hair rule; confirm the desired track’s opening time; and decide how non-riders and younger children will be supervised. For mobility, transfer or restraint questions, contact Frankie’s about the particular kart rather than assuming all three tracks offer the same arrangements.
