RC Track at Camp Clearwater

Camp Clearwater in White Lake, North Carolina offers campers a fun, low-key RC track activity as part of the campground’s family-friendly recreation atmosphere. Located within the campground, the RC track gives guests a place to run remote-control cars while still staying close to the campsites, lake, golf carts, playgrounds, sports courts, mini golf, and other Camp Clearwater amenities. It is the kind of simple campground activity that adds a little extra fun for kids, families, hobbyists, and anyone who enjoys racing RC cars in a relaxed outdoor setting.

What Makes the RC Track Special

What makes the RC track at Camp Clearwater special is that it has a casual, camper-created feel. This is not meant to be a big professional racing facility with a full staff, formal events, or a heavily maintained competition course. Instead, it is more of a fun campground track created and maintained by campers, which gives it a laid-back, community-made personality.

Because the track is camper created and camper maintained, guests should expect it to feel more homemade than commercial. That is part of the charm, but it also means the track may need a little attention before or during use. Depending on weather, traffic, fallen pine needles, loose dirt, ruts, or general wear, campers may need to smooth out a spot, clear debris, or do a little light cleanup before running their RC cars. For families who enjoy hands-on outdoor fun, that can be part of the experience.

Season and Hours

RC track access is generally tied to camping access, campground operations, weather, and any posted campground rules. The track is best enjoyed during the in-season camping months from April through October 31, when more families are staying at Camp Clearwater and outdoor activities are in full swing. It may also be available during the off-season from November 1 through March 31, depending on campground conditions, weather, and track condition.

Camp Clearwater’s office hours are listed as:

Fall/Winter/Spring:
Monday–Friday: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Summer:
Sunday–Thursday: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday–Saturday: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 a.m.

Since the RC track is an outdoor camper-maintained feature, guests should check current conditions when they arrive. Rain, heavy use, loose soil, or campground activity may affect whether the track is ready to use.

Pricing

Access to the RC track is included with camping admission for registered Camp Clearwater guests. There does not appear to be a separate RC track fee for campers using it as part of their stay.

Camp Clearwater does not offer day passes, so the RC track is not available as a standalone public day-use activity for outside visitors. Guests who want to use the RC track should plan to book a camping stay at the campground.

Since RC track access comes with camping, the cost depends on the season and campsite. For in-season camping from April through October 31, overnight camping rates generally range from $70.00 to $125.00 per night. For off-season camping from November 1 through March 31, overnight camping rates generally range from $40.00 to $50.00 per night.

For Harvest Party Weekend, which takes place on Halloween weekend, all sites are listed at $150.00 per night. This special event rate applies during that holiday weekend.

Guests bringing a personal golf cart should also know that proof of liability insurance is required at their first 2025 visit, and a $40.00 fee is required for a Golf Cart Pass.

Booking

Guests can enjoy the RC track by booking a camping stay at Camp Clearwater. Reservations can typically be made through the campground’s online booking system or by calling the office directly. Because camping rates vary by season, site type, and special-event weekends, visitors should confirm their exact camping cost before booking.

Advance reservations for the RC track do not appear to be required. Campers should bring their own RC cars, batteries, chargers, tools, and any small maintenance items they may need. Since the track is camper created and maintained, guests should also be prepared for the possibility that the track may need a little tidying or smoothing before use.

Need to Know Before Going

Campers should bring their own RC vehicles and supplies, including charged batteries, backup batteries, chargers, small tools, and any replacement parts they might need. Because the track is outdoors, guests should expect changing conditions from weather, dust, mud, pine needles, leaves, roots, or general use. A quick walk around the track before running cars is a good idea to check for debris, rough spots, or anything that could damage an RC vehicle.

Visitors should be respectful of other campers, share the track when others want to use it, and keep noise and speed under control around nearby campsites, roads, children, and pedestrians. Since this is a campground activity rather than a staffed attraction, families should supervise children while using the track and treat the area with care so future campers can enjoy it too.
