High Gravity Adventures — Ropes Course in Blowing Rock, North Carolina

A High Country Ropes Course Adventure

High Gravity Adventures in Blowing Rock, North Carolina offers a family-friendly ropes course experience right between Boone and Blowing Rock, next to Tweetsie Railroad. Their ropes course activities are part of their larger aerial adventure park, where guests can climb, balance, swing, cross obstacles, tackle zip elements, and challenge themselves high above the ground.

For ropes course adventures, High Gravity offers two main options: the Foothills Zip Line Adventure Park + Ninja Course for younger guests and beginners, and the Blue Ridge Park + Ninja Course for older kids, teens, and adults who want a bigger challenge. Both courses are built to be fun, active, and confidence-building, whether you’re bringing a 4-year-old for their first aerial adventure or taking older kids through a multi-level ropes course in the trees.

What Makes Their Ropes Course Special

The great thing about High Gravity’s ropes course setup is that it gives different ages and comfort levels their own place to shine.

The Foothills Zip Line Adventure Park + Ninja Course is designed for ages 4 and up and is the more beginner-friendly option. It includes 17 kid-friendly elements, such as balance beams, climbing challenges, and low zip lines. It’s a one-level aerial course, so younger adventurers can get the excitement of climbing and moving through obstacles without being thrown into something too big too fast. It also uses a continuous belay system, meaning guests stay securely connected the whole time.

The Blue Ridge Park + Ninja Course is the bigger ropes course experience. It is built for ages 7 and up and features a three-story aerial course with more than 65 obstacles. This course is more challenging and includes elevated bridges, climbing features, swinging obstacles, balance elements, and higher aerial terrain. The course gets more intense as you move higher, so guests can build confidence as they go.

What makes the experience especially nice is that the courses are not just about “being brave.” They’re about choosing your challenge, working through obstacles, and having fun along the way. Staff provide gear, orientation, and support, so guests can feel comfortable before heading into the course.

All guests will be fitted with safety gear and receive instructions before climbing. High Gravity provides helmets, harnesses, safety systems, and staff support. The maximum individual weight limit for the ropes course is 265 pounds, and guests are weighed discreetly at check-in for safety.

For the Foothills course, guests must be ages 4 and up, and guests with a reach under 56 inches need adult assistance. For the Blue Ridge course, guests must be ages 7 and up, and guests with a reach under 73 inches need adult assistance. Children ages 7–10 on the Blue Ridge course must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Weather matters. The ropes course may operate in light rain, but lightning, high winds, ice, extreme cold, or other unsafe conditions can delay or cancel activities. Check the forecast, book ahead, and confirm your reservation before heading out.
