SNOWBOARDING

Snowboarding at Beech Mountain Resort brings fresh energy and challenge to the Southeast’s winter scene. Situated at an altitude of 5,506 feet—the highest ski destination east of the Rockies—the resort offers crisp, stable temperatures that help preserve both natural snowfall and artificial snow thanks to 100% slope coverage. Riders love the opportunity to carve down steep, tightly spaced trails that feel more dynamic than at nearby resorts. With 17 trails spread across 95 skiable acres and served by eight lifts (including high‑speed quads), you’ll spend less time waiting and more time charging the mountain . Plus, night sessions extend the fun—open until 9 pm during weekdays and 10 pm on weekends—meaning you can score epic runs under the lights with less crowd congestion .

For freestyle snowboarders, Beech Mountain truly stands out with its two terrain parks—the signature For Pete’s Sake park and the more advanced Powder Bowl—each shaped and refreshed regularly by a dedicated crew. With rotating setups and a tow rope, rookies can start small while seasoned riders progress through big jumps, rails, and features. This deliberate emphasis on creativity keeps it fresh and exciting every visit. Plus, the resort is a certified Burton Learn-to-Ride Center, offering beginner-friendly gear and tailored coaching to help newcomers get comfortable right off the bat.

Beyond the slopes, the vibe at Beech is equally compelling. The mountaintop 5506′ Skybar, perched at summit level, offers panoramic views, warming drinks, and a chill break between laps. Downhill, the cozy alpine village includes shops, eateries, firepits, and a lively taproom—perfect for post-ride energy refuel. Beginners benefit from focused lessons—especially youth programs like Snowboard Learn-to-Ride for ages 6–12—or the playful Play Yard nursery setup . Together with tubing and sledding options off-slope, Beech Mountain crafts a well-rounded, spirited winter playground ideal for boarders looking to blend adrenaline with community, style, and a touch of mountain charm.
