SNOW SKIING

Snow skiing at Sugar Mountain Resort is the centerpiece of winter fun in the North Carolina High Country. As the largest ski area in the state, Sugar offers over 125 acres of terrain with 21 slopes and trails that cater to every skill level—from gentle beginner runs to challenging black diamonds for advanced skiers. The mountain’s vertical drop of 1,200 feet gives it a big-mountain feel, while its modern snowmaking and grooming systems ensure smooth, consistent conditions all season long. The resort’s ski school provides excellent instruction for both new and returning skiers, making it easy for anyone to get started or refine their technique.

The experience of skiing Sugar Mountain goes beyond the slopes themselves. As you glide down the mountain, you’re surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with sweeping views that stretch for miles. The high-speed lifts make getting to the top quick and comfortable, and the variety of runs means you can easily spend a full day exploring without repetition. Whether you’re carving down Oma’s Meadow under the bright winter sun or making turns beneath the lights during a night session, skiing at Sugar Mountain combines the excitement of downhill adventure with the beauty and charm of a true Southern Appalachian winter.
