MOUNTAIN BIKING

Beech Mountain’s summer transformation into a downhill mountain bike park sets it apart from many other Southeast riding destinations. What makes it unique is that its ski slopes—at 5,506 feet, the highest in the Eastern U.S.—become lift‐served bike trails every summer, offering an exhilarating descent without the grind of pedaling uphill. With five chairlifts open from late May to early October and multiple ticket options (single‑ride, all‑day, season passes), you get scenic uphill rides followed by heart-pumping downhill runs.

The terrain is varied and thoughtfully designed to meet every skill level: from flowy beginner green trails to technical expert lines featuring rock gardens, berms, and wood descents. In total, the park boasts around 10–15 trails covering roughly 5 miles of descents with over 3,300 feet of vertical drop. For those looking to improve or gain confidence, lessons and demos are available—complete with bike and gear rental—ensuring you’re comfortable and challenged on the mountain.

Add to that the cool, crisp mountain air, lush forest scenery, and the resort’s cozy alpine base—complete with food and taproom options—and you’ve got a full summer adventure spot. The combo of downhill lift-access, wide trail variety, supportive amenities, and scenic surroundings makes mountain biking at Beech Mountain Resort both exhilarating and refreshingly accessible in the Southeast.
